dress mania

Love it when the award season and fashion weeks collide!! So many beautiful dresses everywhere and new trends & ideas to adapt to your own wardrobe!! The possibilities!! Endless!!

Can’t get over all the giggles Ellen DeGeneres created hosting the Oscars (that selfie, genious!!), she’s beyond hi-la-rious!!

There were pretty distinguished evening gowns at the Oscars but I think Sienna Miller totally killed it at the Vanity Fair afterparty…
That red, those golden cuffs, the clutch and belt all imply the gal totally has some fashion sense!!

And I totally dig her non-chalant out-of-bed hair!

The second dress that caught my eye this morning at the Chanel FW14 frow was Keira Knightley’s black and white Chanel number.
Can you believe how classic the dress looks eventhough there’s the element of the piece du jour, the crop top?!
The golden heels are a top choice!!

And now back to Oscars.
Finland got the first EVER nomination for an Oscar this year for Best Live Action Short Film. The film is called “Pitääkö mun kaikki hoitaa?” and the crew looked superbeautiful on the red carpet.

All clad in unique dresses by top Finnish designers -from left: director Selma Vilhunen in a yellow dream of a dress by Katri Niskanen, the scriptwriter Kirsikka Saari in the jewel-like white gown by Teemu Muurimäki. Mert Otsamo designed the beautiful peachy and dark lace dresses for the producer Jenni Toivoniemi and the lead actress Joanna Haartti.
The ladies were styled by the coolest Teri Niitti, make up and hair was by ever so lovely Karo Kangas and the official photographer was the talented Elina Simonen.

kultainen venla

The beautiful singer Anna Abreu attented the Kultainen Venla Gaala (Finnish Emmys) last night and got to pick up the golden statue for the Best Entertainment/Music Programme of the year.
She stunned the event wearing a custom made evening gown by Mert Otsamo, wearing heels by Giuseppe Zanotti from Boutique Kaarina K. and superchic jewellery (earrings and bracelet) from Louis Vuitton.

We had so much fun brainstorming for the look and when Anna had her last fitting before the show we… just… lost… it… of excitement!!!!
Mert, you are such a genious!!
Anna, whoa, you are beyond gorgeous!!

the gatsby evening

Last Thursday I finally got to see the movie I’d waited for a year, The Great Gatsby. I started the evening at the Hotel Kämp with some drinks at the Royal Afterwork and headed to Tennispalatsi to the premiere with some goodlooking according-to-the-theme-dressed crowd. I chose to modernize the dresscode with my white delicate top and black frilly skirt and some dangling bling in my ears.
The movie was very much of a Luhrmann love story and it was easy to get lost in his world. The soundtrack is amazing, rap is totally my cup of tea, and it gives such an interesting contrast to the whole movie.

1. Karina Kivilahti looked absolutely stunning in her Temperley dress.
2. Karina & Kaarina Kivilahti and Mert Otsamo playing with the night’s theme.
3. Tiia Vanhatapio was totally in her element.
4. Teemu Leino et moi looking very prestigious and royal.
5. I had forgotten the film was in 3D! Siru Palmroos and me goofing around before the movie started.
6. Elle Finland’s lovely Mirva Saukkola was one of the hostesses of the evening.
7. + 8. The afterparty was at Teatteri. Good times, lots of it!

elle x moet & chandon pink

Elle threw a beautiful champagne soiree at Mattolaituri which was inspired by the classic Audrey Hepburn movie Funny Face. Dress code was “something pink” and I was sporting my lovely pink stripe Louis Vuitton Mon Monogram Speedy bag and shocking pink nail polish true to my style as I love subtle accents.

For women it’s fairly easy and fun to dress up according to the given pink dress code so it was intriguing to see how the men solved the code. Jari Laaksonen sported a sweet polka dot bow, Vesa Silver had pink flowers in his superstylish pants and the designer Mert Otsamo wore some dramatic face jewellery in dark pink hue.

It was such a lovely afternoon catching up with beautiful friends, meeting new interesting people, feast on pink macaroons and marshmallows and sipping the Moet &Chandon (which by the way is my favorite bubbly)!

Thank you Elle!
